In an effort to enhance its digital ecosystem and foster technological development, Costa Rica is seeking to join the BELLA II project (Building the Europe Link to Latin America and the Caribbean). This project, which seeks to strengthen and expand the digital ecosystem of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), is designed to facilitate relations and exchanges between Latin American and European companies, research centers, educational institutions and academic networks.
Objectives of the BELLA II Project
The overall objective of BELLA II is to contribute to the achievement of the region's strategic objectives focused on education, science, technology and innovation. This project promises a significant expansion of the digital infrastructure available in LAC, as well as increased collaboration with European peers. Within four years, this initiative is expected to help consolidate a robust platform for the exchanges necessary for the formulation and execution of research, education and innovation projects that impact and promote the region's social and economic development.
Specific project objectives include design, construction and operation of digital infrastructure; adoption of digital transformation technologies; intensification of cooperative relationships snd commitment to European initiatives. Furthermore, to ensure the success of BELLA II the project will involve several key stakeholders as connectivity providers, public policy makers, National Research and Education Networks (NRENs), Universities and Research Centers, multinational organizations and financial organizations.
This project will explore and develop digital technologies that enable interactions and collaboration, including data analytics, artificial intelligence and cloud computing, providing personalized experiences and improving connectivity within the ecosystem.
Costa Rica, by joining BELLA II, would take an important step towards modernizing and strengthening the digital infrastructure, preparing for a more connected and collaborative future. This initiative not only promises significant technological advances, but also a positive impact on education and innovation throughout the region.
